40 Plus Woman

About Me

Here are the facts:

  1. I’m a woman.
  2. I’m 48.
  3. I’m a mother of three (two college-age daughters and a boy in elementary school).
  4. I’ve been married twice, combined I’ve been married a total of 25 years.  What is the gift for the 25th anniversary?
  5. I’m the oldest of three.  My sister is 14 months younger than I am.  My brother is 43.  If he was a woman, he’d like this site.
  6. My parents are still married, and alive. They live four miles away from me and my family.
  7. I’m a writer.  I started writing when my agoraphobia got the best of me.  Writing is a career I could stay in my pajamas all day.  But I had two young daughters who I owed it to them to get out of my pjs and greet and meet the day.
  8. I believe in luck.  I believe in hard work even more.
  9. My favorite beverages are Diet Coke and red wine, not necessarily in that order.
  10. I have a short temper.  My road rage has gotten better.
  11. I can think of million things at one time.
  12. I hate people who exaggerate.
  13. I’m sensitive.  This is a blessing and a curse.
  14. I’m at the age where I don’t give a flying fornication about what people think of me…most of the time.
  15. Today I’m stronger than I’ve ever been.  Thank you CrossFit.  Thank you body.
  16. I get nostalgic a lot.
  17. I’m amazed by how strong and weak my mind can be.
  18. I care.
  19. I recycle and compost.
  20. Even though I don’t have a cat, my first love was a cat named Norman.  He had a blue and green eye.
  21. I have three dogs.  They are Molly, Kelly and Jack’s.
  22. I like to sing.
  23. I have five chickens.
  24. I love country music for the storytelling.  I don’t hear the stories jazz tells. I’m sure it’s me.
  25. I’ve never, ever liked running.
  26. My favorite cookie is sugar with frosting.  I’m a lover of Costco frosting.
  27. Taos, New Mexico is my favorite place (besides my home with my family).
  28. When I was a little girl, I never dreamed of a Prince Charming, a fairytale wedding, having children.  But this is the life I have.  I’m blessed, and I’ve worked my ass for it. I have the flat rear end to prove it.
  29. I used to be more sarcastic.
  30. I loved Lilith Fair.
  31. Half of my life was spent in Pacific Beach, the other half in Alpine.  That’s why I’m a suburban hippie.
  32. I’ve never liked the taste of coffee.
  33. I love songs with gospel choirs.
  34. I wish people would call it a drug problem and not exhaustion.
  35. I think we all could be lovelier to ourselves and each other.
  36. I wish I was better at math, money and budgeting.  Ugh!
  37. I have a deep appreciation for people who like to cook.
  38. When I’m wealthy, I want a driver.
  39. I love the color purple.
  40. As a writer I’m not supposed to use cliches, but the older I get the more I understand how true cliches are, especially the ones about time.

These are the facts but they don’t define me.  This site is a place where we can all be who we are.  This is a place where we get deeper than the facts or skim the surface. This is a site for you.
