A 40 plus woman sweats. Night sweats. Hot flashes. No, not perspiring. These are full bucket, puddle sweats. Here are some suggestions by women who know of what they speak.
Estroven. This is a “natural” herbal remedy. It helped me not to want to murder all those around me. Rhonda, age 50
Black cohosh. Black cohosh (aka Actaea racemosa and Cimicifuga racemosa), is a member of the buttercup family. Other names include black snakeroot, bugbane, bugwort, rattleroot, rattletop, rattleweed, and macrotys. Insects avoid it, which accounts for some of these common names. It sounds like menopause avoids it, too. Black cohosh is the main ingredient in herbal remedies, such as Estroven. It worked for a couple of years but now I’m on estrogen replacement. But at the time, it helped with my hot flashes. Sheila, age 54
Sleep with a tank top and nothing on the bottom. Sleeping this way was the only strategy to get through the night. I was kept “warm” on top and cooler on the bottom. Danielle, age 48
Exercise helped me to keep sane. It not only lessened the night sweats and hot flashes but it kept me from gaining a ton of weight which happens when we go through the changes. Tina, age 49
